Performance Art Project

Image
Performance Art Project This performance art project was actually fun to do. The motive behind the project was the environment. I thought, "What is something that really pisses people off?" Answer: Plastic straws.  The outline of my body in the straws is representative of how if there is no action taken to stop pollution, then humans will eventually die and be left with trash in our place.  The only problem that occurred was exactly what I wanted to occur. People kept trying to get me to stop and one person even took the straws and kicked them all over the place. Unfortunately, the camera man wasn't filming and the man didn't want to be filmed anyway. Aside from that, people were curious and once they found out, they were interested in the cause.

Final Art Project

Art Video Click on the link above to access the final art video project.  This video was inspired by the environment. The world we live in is being filled with trash at a rate never seen before, and, if it keeps this way, we will lose the Earth we call home. Most of the footage was filmed by me on a T3-i during the afternoon. The trash was found around Tampa except for the chessboard. I chose to use a chessboard and replace pieces with trash to show how humans and trash coincide. We are the reason there is so much trash and it's purposeful that we interact with it. The music is supposed to create tension and make an awkward feel, because when environmental issues are brought up most people feel conflicted. The music is supposed to create that feel.

Music

Dubstep: When I think of Dubstep or the founders of Dubstep, instantly Skrillex comes to mind. He and many others pioneered the modern take on Dubstep. His music is the emphasis of electronic and technology mixing with music. The heavy use of mixing and electronic noises classifies him as a dubstep artist.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2VmcuOEqEg Punk: The band that defined punk is Blink-182. Hands down. If you want a "fuck you society" listen to their early tracks before they became more mainstream and they helped pave the way for the new post-punk era too. From "Dammit" to "First Date" they were the band to listen to if you wanted to break norms. Music interacts with technology by increasing distortion and creating the punk feel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT0g16_LQaQ Girl Power: A lesser known band but powerful nonetheless, Tonight Alive is lead by female lead singer Jenna McDougal. With a more of a punk rock feel, the band is for

Photocopy Project

My Xerox art project was inspired by my passion for music. I have played the guitar for 6 years and it's something that relaxes me. The hands are placed on the guitar because they are the most necessary for playing. The forearm was placed along the frets because it has similar structure and looked good. the base of the body is made up of images of my face. I enjoyed doing the project mostly cause it taught me how to use a scanner. Enjoy.

Grid Art Project - The Cashew

Image
This was by far one of the more challenging projects regarding artistic ability. I sadly do not have $50 to spend for one assignment of a class, so instead, I took advantage of what I had around my room. This was the origin of the cashew created here in the midst of other nuts. I realized after I had bought this bag of mixed nut trail mix, that there were no cashews in it. Cashews are my favorite type of nut, so I decided to create one using various other nuts. The almonds are used for shade, and the cranberries are to accent darker shadows. I present...The Cashew. This nut was the basis and inspiration for my project.

Flipbook Project

This flip book project was actually relaxing at some points, but overall was a ton more work than I thought it would be. My narrative follows a stick person who changes color from different changing factors. My inspiration comes from my childhood art classes where we had to do similar assignments. The largest problem that I ran into was the marker bleeding through onto the next page. This prevented me from using certain colors.

Camera Obscura

The camera obscura was a much harder project than I had thought. Due to the lack bare walls and the odd design of the room, I was forced to manipulate a bed sheet to hang from the ceiling with duck tape. This was easily the hardest part of the project. Once I had the sheet hanging, I used black cardboard to black out the window. I then proceeded to cut a hole and then the magic happened. This is a shot from Straz hall of the baseball outfield with Morsani hall and the skyline in the background.
